Al's Liner::Ultimate Automotive Coatings

Al's Liner do it yourself spray in bedliner kit.... Has anyone had experience with this? It looks to be a good quality Do we have any site sponsors that carry this?

Id like to do the bed of my 01, rockers & bed of 90, and rockers of the 06. With that said Id be spending over $1500+ from a rhino or line-X place vs Al's Liner Kit & Material



I had my local NAPA contact Al's Liner and they now carry the product and I ordered in a kit:


I still have a few questions as far as application.... such as:

• when removing tape should we pull it off when the material is tacky? I planned on covering the whole truck then doing another layer right at the edge of the material so when I pull the tape Im not removing the whole thing... just the edges think that will work?
• Can I add metal flake to the material to get a exact color match or will that mess with the spray gun?
• Anyone have tips or tricks to recommend?

never seen the stuff. seen if it has a uv protection from the sun if not it will fade a look gray over the years

 

Hi Guys. I couldn't help but notice the thread regarding the Al's Liner Product. I am the dealer in British Columbia, Canada for Al's and have had nothing but the best comments from customers who have used this product. I am in the coatings business and have done various types of coatings from the major film productions and tv shows all the way down to residential and commercial specialty coatings through my company Canadian Mobile Coatings Ltd.

I forgot to answer the questions for you.

- If you use 3M wire tape you can pull it off after you completely done (when dry) or if you use painters tape you do it when tacky. Either way you always pull up into the product when pulling off any of these tapes.

- You can use any automotive color pigment by using the color code of the vehicle and mix it instead of using the supplied black. You can use metallics, pearls and you can even ad media or rubber granules for more non-slip properties.

- Don't really need any tricks to spray as it is so simple to do. Best thing to do is look at the Al's Liner Training Video on the web site Al's Liner::Ultimate Automotive Coatings

What does the kit cost? Does it include enough product to do more than just a truck bed?

Dealers throughout the USA sell the 1 gallon kits for $95 and if you want the Al's Liner Texture spray gun it is another $55. At dealers in Canada it is $149.95 (Canadian) for the kit and $80 for the gun. A bit more in Canada but you have to account for shipping the kits and guns into Canada plus duties and brokerage fees. Still a great deal compared to others and what you would pay for someone else to do it!

One kit is enough to do a small size truck bed up to the medium size boxes and for a full sized 8' box i'd recommend two gallons with some left over.

Overall my impression on Al's liner is very good! the only downfall I have is operator error, I was too excited to turn down the gun so it sprayed on thick and I went thru a quart quick!! Soooo I had to rush and mix up another quart then I turned the gun down a little and it lasted a little longer.

My small Craftsman air compressor couldn't keep up but I just unhooked the gun to make sure it would keep up. although I never had any issue with the spray so maybe it is enough to keep up on the small jobs but a truck bed it wouldn't last Im sure

Prep work took the longest as usual but 5 hrs later it is pretty dry and looks like this is going to be the ticket!!!! I plan on spraying a chain box on my smaller trailer that sits in the sun constantly to check the UV quality before I spray the side of my silver truck

If your asking why the heck would he spray the inside of a toolbox.... The reasoning is in the past I have always payed to have my boxes lined to keep from the aluminum chalk/dust getting all over my tools and chains. This way the chains and binders will be somewhat clean when I pull them out.
