I'm so tempted to take it out and floor it and see what she can do. Twin turbos+ dragon flow pump = fast. Lol the motor is all rebuilt so I should prolly put some miles on it before i turn it it loose. -

yeah you need to get a good 500 miles on it before you flog the dog, and after you put some miles on it then i would retq the headblots just to be sure

Thats a 6 inch CAT stack for right now but I will soon have an 8inch CAT on it. The 8 incher i was going to use on it I had on a flat bed trailer with some other junk and it fell off and got all dented up so I decided to use the 6 inch instead. -

best way to break one in is a lot of city drivin'.... you want to keep the rpm's varying... i heard it isn't good for it to stay at a constant rpm for a long period of time.... -

Yea thats what i heard too.... I have 4000 rev springs in it now..... Should i take it all the way to 4000 or just take it easy and go to 2500? -

i'd say take it to 2500 or so for 1/2 - 3/4 of the mileage and then a little higher towards the end. and take it easy up there too, meaning low to no boost......
when we broke in a friend of mines gas engine (turbo 4) we eased it up to 4-5K and then left it in gear and let it engine break itself down to 1500-2k.... we made some soft pulls in 4th gear up to those rpms and then let off and let it slow back down. we did this for ~20-30 miles after he drove it for a week locally in town ~200-250 miles or so.... the theory is the vacuum it makes in the cyls helps seat the rings better. then after 500 miles or so we beat the living crap out of it..... then the head messed up and we had to change that but the bottom end is still good and tight. accually i'm going to get it and put it in my ranger soon..... the bottom end of the motor, forged flat-tops....mmmmmm - |

i guess we were hard on ours, when we finished my buddys turbo mustang we pulled it out in the street and did a 5K boosted launch
. different strokes for different folks i guess. but all the old school engine builders ive talked to said check for leaks then drive the heck out of it.either way, awesome truck, let us know the results man!!! - |
