Very Clean build I might add!
I will be doing a Mercedes transplant into an early 90's Jeep Cherokee and this is very helpful! Too bad you are not a little closer so I could come over and take a look, but your over on the other side of the world! LOL
Once again great job!

Default Cleanest OM617

Cleanest OM617 I have seen. How far did you disassemble the motor? The donor I have is covered in oil form a leaking cap. I am thinking about a rebuild. Also, did you use new bolts and nuts or just clean? I am buying the same kit to mate the motor and transmission. Again the motor and jeep looks jeep.

For those who have asked, I got the AX5 components from Standard Transmission Parts - Wholesale Transmission - Manual Transmission Gears My adapter components which included adapter plate, exhaust, motor mounts, saddles and oil pan kit came from Mercedes Diesel 4x4.com OM617 Jeep Conversion Kits Other items came from Jeep Parts and Accessories|87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ|Morris 4x4 Center and https://mercedessource.com/ Several items I custom made like the throttle cable mount etc. Also, a lift kit is required when using the OM617 oil pan modification. They don't tell you that in their info? Good luck!

FWIW, I have put almost 5000 miles on the conversion and have averaged a realistic 21.8 mpg with all around town driving. I haven't had it on the highway except for a few short I-275 3 mile runs in St. Petersburg. I will be posting a short driving video soon too.

what size tires and gearing do youhave ?? I have an xj with 31's but want to go to 33's.... was hoping to get a little better mileage then 22 but most of my driving is also around 65-70mph.... als do you have a better picture of that adapter?? I was going to buy one from mercedes4x4 but really am thinking of just making it and the flywheel adapter.... thanks!

Default Run down the road

A short video of a pleasant lap around town. I installed a front differential cable actuating kit doing away with the vacuum system. I have also installed a VDO Vision tachometer using the original tachometer can as a base. Having not been happy with the bit of roughness at idle, I also installed a new set of 5 Monarch injection nozzles. Boy oh boy what a difference! Idles way smoother and they are suppose to improve mileage too, we will see? I have put about 6000 miles on it since the engine swap. Enjoy the video if you dare...

BTW, I have a diesel in my ClubCar CarryAll 2 cart too, blessings

FWIW, I have gotten a honest 22 mpg over the last year or so. Again, this is all around town daily driving. I plan on adding a VDO boost and EGT gauge soon too
