I have a 1999 RV with a 5.9L 24v Cummins ISB and an Allison MT643. I'd like to boost the HP and Torque but have been told that the Allison torque converter won't handle more than 600 ftlb. Is there a torque converter out there that will couple to the cummins and Allison and that will handle engine upgrades?

I am looking for advice on upgrading my 275hp Cummins ISB which is hooked to an Allison MT643. I understand that the transmission is limited to 600 ft lbs of torque which is what the Cummins puts out now. The limit is the torque converter. Question, are there aftermarket heavy duty torque converters (such as the Banks billet) that I can put in to overcome this limit??

This has been driving me nuts, trying to figure it out
![]() There's a slot in front of the radiator that looks like it should be holding something. At first glance, I thought It might be a place to rest the radiator while working on the front of the engine, but it's not quite wide enough.... any comments? 6.2L 1984 Fleetwood Pace Arrow Eleganza P30 Chassis |
