2000 Ford Ex with 2004 Commonrail Cummins 24v engine
I reckon since this is about oddball diesels I'll put in my two cents. I have a 2000 Ford Ex that I converted from a v10 gasser to a 2004 Commonrail 24v Cummins. I used a BTS 5R110 transmission because I wanted to use nothing but the best. I bought a lot of the parts from Diesel Conversion Specialists out in Montana, but the adaptor plate came from Destroked because theirs are heavier duty than DCS adaptor plates. Like I said I wanted to use the best so I called around and found an engine that only had a thousand miles on it. Some idiot bought the truck, drove it halfway across the country and crashed it.
The engine came complete with the stock holset turbo. I took the truck to a local exhaust shop and had them put in a custom 4inch stainless steel straight pipe exhaust. I put a Bully Dog tuner in, updated the injectors, and now am topping 580 h.p. with torque at 1060. I still get stares and grimaces when I accelerate from a stoplight, but thats what you get for driving a badass truck! I like to irritate liberals in town...
