Ford has just finished off one heck of a 2010 here in the States, with big sales increases and improved profitability. The same can apparently be said north of the border, as the Toronto Star notes that Big Blue has managed a 19 percent sales increase compared to 2009. Perhaps more impressive is the probability that Ford even trumped General Motors in Canadian sales for the first time in more than half a century. According to the report, Ford of Canada tallied 267,974 sales for the year, and while GM still hasn't posted its final sales for the year, the Toronto Star claims that analysts consider Ford's sales lead to be nearly "insurmountable."

Ford's big sales year in Canada was lead by the continued success of the F-Series pickup range. Ford's top truck managed 97,913 sales for the year, the most by any individual vehicle in the history of Canadian auto sales. the F-Series has been Canada's best-selling pickup for 45 years. But while Ford has captured the top spot in Canada, The General still reigns supreme here in the U.S., with a 2010 sales lead of 280,000 units.
