How's that work, for us "regular" folks?
big hassle?
"cash on the barrelhead?"
I know that people do it, but, I don't know anyone who's done it.

Default Towing with the little CRD.

They made a grand Cherokee crd from 07-08 I believe and looks like they may reintroduce it

They still make it, as all other Jeep models as an CRD version, but only outside the US.

Default CRD Brother in towing

Hey man your not alone towing with the Liberty CRD My 2006 4x4 CRD tows my 5000 lb camping trailer quite well. The suspension has been helped out with rear HD springs and, coilover shocks but, with minimal engine upgrades she towes like a champ. I am about to get a turbo upgrade and, tune from Green Diesel Engeneering 300hp 400tq. can hardly wait also am getting their trans tune and, converter upgrade for max performance.

Ok I have installed a Green Diesel Hot Tune in my 2006 Liberty as well as deleted the mechanical fan and, clutch and, installed a Hayden 2700 16" electric fan with thermostatic controller. This thing hauls *** now like never before and, does so cool. With the fan clutch etc. gone you can here the turbo spool up more as you accelerate like a mad horse. I can hardly wait to tow later this month on vacation.

I've had a 2006 crd for about 18 months. Love it. In Europe they are rated for towing 7000#'s. Here 5,000#'s and they do it effortlessly. Towing my loaded quad trailer with my 2000 Cherokee was not safe, in the Liberty CRD it is fantastic.
When I first got it I picked up alot of info from the LostJeeps forum. I put a lift pump in the fuel tank (from a 2003 dodge truck), high flow muffler (and hollowed out the Cat), A provent (to divert the oil that Jeep had directed back into the intake system and can cause turbo failure) system. GRD eco tune, and transgo shift kit in the tranny.
Basically reversed all jeep did to meet USA smog and cut production costs. I will probably put in a Euro torque converter within the next 6 months. I get over 30mpg on the freeway and 22-24 around town. For towing many have flipped the spare tire carrier upside down to get a few more inches between the reciever and the bottom of the spare tire.
I also put on a ARB front bumper, makes it look more like a Man's car, and I incorporated tow bar receivers because I tow it behind my Diesel Pusher motorhome.
I do not recommend this car to someone who who has no inclination to make some changes.
USA models were ruined in an attempt to meet our smog requirements. An average mechanic can straighten it out without much trouble. There have been some devistating turbo and engine failures in CRD's, usually stock ones. Do your homework on the Lost Jeeps forum.
