Default fuel problem

I have an '05 crd, and the other day going down the highway it died. Luckily I coasted into a side road and parked. It would start & run for 2 seconds and die. I tried bleeding the fuel filter and got nothing. So I changed the fuel filter, but I couldn't get it to prime with the manual pump. So I cut a circle of rubber belting with a hole saw and took my air tank and applied a little air pressure in the fuel tank filler. Fuel came out of the bleed valve at the filter. I pumped manually till no air. Then it started and idled indefinitely, but if I revved the engine it would die after about 5 seconds. If I left the gas cap off, it would rev indefinitely, but would die under load. So I'm thinking there must be a leak in the fuel line between the tank and the filter where air is getting sucked into the line. I don't see any fuel leak. Has anyone seen this problem? Do I drop the tank or access the top of the tank through the back floor? Is there any other possible cause?

Install a flow through on fail lift pump. Add a safety toggle when installing the lift pump for easy priming.

You can use the lift pump from a 1993 GM 6.5 - use AC Delco only If you choose that style lift pump.

I have a Dodge in tank lift pump in mine. The wiring harness for the lift pump is under the back seat.

There are detailed instructions at Lostjeeps.com

You can also change the fuel filter manager to that of a GM 6.5 diesel or from a Cummins. Check for a post by gmctd

You also need to find where your air leak is.

There is also a good CRD page on Facebook
