Hey guys, so I'm new to diesels all together , never owned one but I've always wanted one, I'm looking at a 2001 ram 2500 4x4, what should I know about diesels before I buy one, not just what to look for when buying but diesels in general.

Nice truck. Well test drive it see if it "feels" good, no loose steering or slop, check driveshafts for play in the ujoints, can you carfax it? I always check the fluids on a vehicle can tell you alot about vehicle maintenance. Check frame for rust holes if any. Leaks as well from any where.4 wheel drive system along with a/c heat. Hope this helps. Nice looking truck.

IIRC there was an issue with the "53" blocks in the 24v cracking around the water jacket. Might want to check into that on both the truck and the boards, not saying it happens to every "53" block but I've read enough about it to be concerned if I ever get anoth Cummins. Check to see if it has been modded-look for gauges and stuff. Otherwise drive it and check for obvious things.
