Don't you think it would advance the timing to far because it will preignite?

I put a gallon of diesel in my truck once (not paying attention) but then dumped ~30 gallons of diesel on top of it so i didn't worry...

...thank god for the edit button huh? That reminds me though, today we went to get feed. We stopped at an unfamiliar fuel station on the way back. The pump was marked really weird and the diesel handle was black and the gas handle was green (bunch of numbnut employees) but I pulled an old Whitmore trick and sniffed the nozzle to see and went about my marry way. |

-- I would never mix them.. I'm anal about not putting stuff in my tank that isn't supposed to be there or specifically formulated for such (as in 2 stroke oil or gasoline, etc)

My wife just put 18 gal of med grade unleaded in my duramax. Drove a block and died... will it be alright if I drain the tank, change the fuel filter and blow out the lines.. is there anything else I need to do? I was told to put tranny fluid in the new filter and qt of oil in the tank.

why tranny fluid and oil?
Just pump the entire system out if you can do that yourself, or else get a mechanic to do it, then fill the system back up with fresh diesel, should run fine after that. You might need to bleed it though. |

LOL I put 20L of gasoline in my truck last week by accident....Pump was covered in snow so I didn't see it said "GASOLINE".... 7/8 pumps were diesel only. So, got it towed right away. They drained and flushed the system out and put 90L of diesel back in the tank.
So I drove it for a week then noticed it was running a little rough. It had been sounding smooth but started to sound rough....so yesterday after work before taking off I bled the fuel filter and it smelled like gasoline....go figure. Well, bled the shit out of the filter, primed the system back up and it instantly sounded way better. Way way smoother... Hopefully nothing bad comes out of that. After they put 90L of fuel in I went and filled up to 180L and put in over 1L of 2 TCW-3....Then after bleeding it yesterday I put in 500mL TCW3 2-stroke and about 72L of diesel....so it should be okay now I hope. What a PITA THAT WAS! |
