Towing in a HurryThe eighth mile trailer tow was the third event of the 2014 Diesel Power Challenge, taking place on Wednesday at Banidmere Raceway after the trailer obstacle course and a good lunch. The same trailer was used for both events. All eight trucks that started the day also successfully completed this event. Danick St. Pierre (’08 Dodge) ran an 11.081 at 71.83 mph, placing him in the top spot, followed by Matt Kauffman (’06 Dodge) with an 11.136 at 68.58 mph and Shilo Ellingford (’06 Chevy) with an 11.297 at 72.58 mph. The quick launches and fast speeds of several of the pulls had track officials and bystanders shaking their heads as 18,000 pounds of unleashed fury thundered down the drap strip. Luckily all drivers were able to keep the trailer mostly under control to successfully make it to the third and final event of the day – the quarter mile drag race.
