The plot has thickened today as Ford announced the much-anticipated figures for its second generation 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine slated for the 2015 Ford Super Duty trucks. The current Power Stroke puts out 400 hp and 800 lb-ft of torque. As you can imagine, Ford upped the power and torque figures of their new heavy duty trucks to a class-leading 440 hp and class-leading 860 lb-ft of torque, indeed becoming the most powerful diesel engine you can buy in a consumer-grade truck - a bold claim we predicted when covering the 2015 F-450 in the February 2014 issue. Our initial predictions of 425 hp and 875 lb-ft of torque were close, but actually underestimated horsepower and overestimated torque. These power figures stand for all Super Duty models from the F-250 to the F-450.
