Ok fellas so I'm looking for my first diesel.Up till I had kids I always rode bikes or hotrods,I still got em but can't pile the kids in em & the options were slim were not a minivan type,started off with a zr2 blazer biggest p.o.s. I've ever drove then I bought a 2nd gen ram gasser with the 360 & it had plenty of room.I did some upgrades & added a lift & some 35s besides it being a dog its a great truck going on 4 years with only routine stuff being took care of But from having it I fell in love with trucks & can't see myself having nothing else for a d/d but I wanna run with the big dogs I want a real truck!I have a 4 door car for gas mileage & grocery trips but ready to upgrade rigs.
*********************** I have a few I'm considering If you care to help Ill tell ya what they are & then what my expectations are.I Have a small shop & build&restore old cars,trucks % bikes&whatever I get Ill.make sick.First & foremost I'm looking for a truck that I can keep for a very long time, I'm not too worried about speed if I wanna go fast Ive got a beast outside,I need something that is gonna be safe to put my kids in &have to has 4x4 & that I can fix up to show off my paint & fab skills. I Have a fella with a obs 97 f350 12 in of lift on 40s in 22s,only problem with that is Id like to lift myself instead of worrying if someone did it wrong,next I'm thinking about a 99 super duty 7.3 lastly I Have a fella who I could do some paint work on a old powerwagon to get a 2005 flatbed 2500 cummins 4x4 laramie.or pay a little under 7k of its still there next month & he still wants to make the deal Ill go get it & if I keep or not Ill get it But needs a new trans.I like the cummins but everything else seems to suck but a cummins with 150-300k don't much bother me now should that many on a 7.3 powerstroke ?everyone has a 2nd gen out here Id really like the obs & sd when lifted if I get the ford & if ever needs a engine swap Ill do a 12 valve.Well Thanks.

I have an 01 Excursion 7.3 and a 2000 ram. Both over 300k. The ford has driven me nuts with driveability issues. Surging, cutting off, hard starting... The Dodge was a salvage rollover. Complete body was swapped out. I love that truck. Its my 3rd Dodge and if the first one had an extended cab, I would still have it. The second one was recycled to another owner. It was rusty. No major anything on either truck. But the dodge cummins kicks ***.
