Default F250 7.3 vs dodge 5.9

My neighbor owns a 5.9 L Dodge Cummings I own a 7.3 L diesel which one do you think is better for longevity, power, towing, everything; I just want some opinions.
I'm new I'm not sure if I'm on the right thread I apologize if I'm not!!!!

They're all junk. Question is which parts do you want to replace. Cummins/DMax boys always seem to forget/neglect to include details when theirs break. Cummins has had block issues, vp44 issues, etc, dmax has HG issues, inj issues, etc.

Your're all too familiar with the ford issues...

As a mechanic that drives 6.0 fords and works on a small fleet of mixed dodge/gmc trucks 09+ I can say there is some terrible design flaws in the current technology!! We are fastening panels back on the 2012 dodges with self tapping screws into anything solid from the outside of the panels!!! All it takes is a little mud hanging off the fender to tear it from the oem mounts..It's gross...... and up until 2014 (IIRC) they run a live front drive shaft so if you have a double cardon failure at highway speeds expect $15K++ in repair costs (just happened to a 2011 Dodge 5500, have neat pics!)

The GMC's are constantly needing ball joints, wheel bearing assemblies ,abs sensors and throwing body control module/wiring issues... and evap probs (gas eng's) and the durash!ts are tossing injectors like they're yesterday's news papers.. Worst of all GMC (Give Mechanic a Call) requires all electronic replacement parts be "programmed" in-virtually eliminating the average mechanic and completely elim. the back yard mech.

Like I said all junk....

Nothing like working on our old D8K dozer.... there's less than 50' of wiring in the entire machine.... ALL MECHANICAL.... oil psi increases the advance of the injection pump, valves easily adjustable..., prob run on modified chicken fat and used oil mixture....

Cummins is a tested engine, simple design. An inline engine is typically best for towing, but not as multi-talented... the v design makes for a much smoother, classier feeling engine, more universal in its approach, but prob falls short on the towing... my $0.02

Longevity it's a toss up. Power and towing I'd have to give it to the 5.9. Motors aside I'd have to say the ford is better. Dodge is less reliable in the truck itself. But motors id have the say the 5.9 is better.

It depends on what years you are talking about. 94-98 12 valve cummins probably the most reliable diesel ever put into a pickup (only real problem is the killer dowel pin, fix it before it falls out and your all set) I would also say most power and best towing, very easy to modify. 95-02 7.3 they run forever if you keep up with them not a ton of power expensive to fix, anything after the 7.3 is really a crap shoot. I really dont event want to talk about chevy, great gas motors I would never buy one of there diesels. I will agree that the dodge truck itself is complete garbage. Best would be a ford with a 12 valve and stick trans, or allison. Thats what I built. I know multiple people with over 300,000 on the 7.3 motors.
