Default A Warning About AirDog Products - My Experience

Hey Guys, I am stepping out of my comfort some here with the hopes of saving someone else the nightmare that has been my AirDog II fuel pump. I, like many others, depend on my Dodge for my livelihood on a daily basis and wanted to make sure it doesn't cost someone else.

This is in no way meant to be slander of any kind, but I feel the story needs to be known.

On August 22nd, 2011 I purchased an AirDog II 165 kit for my 2003 Ram 3500. I bought it from Xtreme Diesel Performance (XDP) for a sum of $632. It was a lot of money, but I wanted a reliable fuel system for my truck. It should be known that my stock, usually failure prone stock 2003 fuel pump was working like a charm at 200,000 miles.

In the last 70,000 miles (Since August, 2011) I have had my AirDog leave me on the side of the road no less than six times, I have truly lost count. Always the same pump motor failure. The amount of loss I have in downtime and repairs due solely to my AirDog is astronomical. Not to mention I am extremely worried about the effects fuel starvation has had of my HPCR system.

AirDog always has shipped me a replacement motor, no questions asked. That is about the only good thing I can say. Time and time over I have asked about why the motors are failing, and what has been done to correct it and I never have received answers. I have always been told that the new motor I will be receiving is fixed, and always it fails, always in the same way. I have asked for people higher on the food chain to talk to, I have asked for a refund, I have asked for a spare motor to keep with me while I am on the road, I have asked them to put their money where their mouth is on the last motor they sent me, always without results.

I am at this time left with a $600 paper weight, I wouldn't even feel remotely comfortable putting this back on my truck one more time, and I CERTAINLY wouldn't even think about selling it to someone else. I will now be forced to spend another considerable sum of money on a competitor product, and spend the whole weekend replacing the entire AirDog system on my truck with another one.

I just wanted to let everyone know, I really hope I can save someone else the headache. If anyone wants to talk details, please PM me or post for my contact information. I don't want this thread to turn into bashing Airdog, but if you have had a problem I am sure others would like to know.

- Jack
