All The Torque That’s Fit To TwistDiesel Owners Save Moola
A study by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute found that if you’ve got a diesel vehicle, you’re likely saving thousands of dollars in total ownership costs compared to those with a gasoline vehicle. It could be anywhere from $67 in three years to $15,619 in five years, although it’s typically in the $2,000 to $6,000 range, including the extra expense of the diesel engine itself. For example, take the Mercedes-Benz. In a three-year plan, the GL saved owners $13,514 (and the E, M, and R Class Benzes did pretty good, too), while the Volkswagen Jetta and Golf saved $3,128 and $5,013, respectively. All diesel vehicles had lower fuel costs than comparable gas ones, and 11 of the 12 diesel vehicles compared held their value better than gas counterparts over a three-year window.
