So out of curiousity, I went and installed a 1.5 k resistor and a 10 k resistor on a 3 position switch, and the 10k setting did nothing, but the 1.5 k raised the idle a whole maybe, 100 rpm. No lope, and little smoke. I have a 2001 f250 7.3 stock. Any suggestions as to my problem?

Note - the 1.5 k did work and lope for about a second, truck died and then fired back up and idled like it was never on

 

I'd suggest not doing the mod.
