Cummins recommends no more than 5% waste motor oil per tank of fuel.

And remember, some OTR truck sport the "Centinal" system that blows oil from the crankcase into the fuel tanks as the old oil is replaced with new oil...

I would only do this in a "mechanical" engine with filtered oil (preferable a separate system with a low micron filter such as a frantz)...I will not do this with a CR motor.

4 to 5 gallons of unfiltered per tank when I got it and then fill it up with fuel, I have a thread over on DTR about it, heres the link: http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/d...d.php?t=160509 The truck started better, ran better, smoked more, and saved me alot of money. Big deal I got to change the filter earlier, the money I've saved well payed for that extra filter.

***I wouldnt recommend doing this in a VP44 or CR truck, EVER!!!***

As for using old engine oil for lubricants in the fuel... It doesn't work...

It a bigger mess than its worth...

Take a look at #13 it only improved the HFRR number 2 points... It not worth dumping used oil in your tank and take the chances of damaging your IP, LP, and injectors with dirty ol' engine oil...

I had a customer running WO in his 2nd gen. Burned up his VP44 twice doing it in one week. This was with a FASS 150/95, so it was filtered well. He won't do it again.

Wow, today I seem to be learning a lot about diesels... Those of you runnin 2cy. oil.. How is it cheaper than just buyin diesel?? 2 cyc isn't cheap on its own so I would venture to think just fuelin up would be cheaper... Can you run the used oil out of the actual engine it's self.. Dunno what weight oil it is and all... Even then it doesn't seem it would last but for one tank...

Sorry, tryin to lean and not be ignorant!

2 cycle oil as an additive is for lubricity qualities that we lost when they removed the sulfer from fuel.

Cummins had a project a few years ago in Germany where the motor was constantly removing motor oil from the sump...............like a drop and hour or some **** and they was disposing of it into the fuel tank to later be burnt................the system also had a day tank of stored new motor oil that was constantly adding oil to the system on level control.....................then all ya had to do was change a oil filter now and again..............never change the oil

I believe that with used motor oil being a hazerdous waste product that we will see this practice go into full play some day

So I've been reading some more posts on this, seems a majority of guys doing it run Cummins... this safe on powerstrokes and duramaxes also?

I myself dont endorse the use of used motor oil in yer fuel at all

I do however fully support the use of 2 cycle motor oil on a regular basis as a lubricity supliment for all diesels

I add 2 cycle to my tank whenever I fill up completely (once a week usually), though when I only put a small quantity of fuel (every few days) I dont add anything. Recently I have ventured into the realm of fuel additives besides just 2 cycle, and have tried out AMSoil diesel treatment stuff along with 2 cycle, and for some reason yet have not seen results that really make me want to question the use of the additives.... (yeah call me crazy as you experts know that it is beneficial one way or another).

Just my word on my experiences...

Dont mean to hijack or anything, but in near future I have plans to look into alternative fuels for my truck as rising fuel costs are sending too much of my paycheck into my diesel tank. I am almost leaning towards not going the performance all out route as I once had in mind for my truck, but rather the daily driven truck that I can run off of WVO or whatnot... maybe get power levels up a little more but yeah... Dang fuel companies!
