Default 02 mods for daily towing

I just put a deposit on a 02 powerstroke with only 61k. The only mods are a tuner of some sort ( i dont remember the brand, he showed me how it worked). I want to do the gauges like everyone suggest, but this is my 1st automatic and i'm a little concerned. i pull a 40'flatbed every day weighing around 16-17k empty(total), and 21-23k loaded on average. Should i replace the stock cooler with a bigger one? And any other mods that would help fuel milage and/or reliability? I could care less how 'fast' the truck is, i want it to be reliable!!!

i go to chuch with a guy who has an 01 with the 4R100. he tows a backhoe with it all the time and he blew the tranny at 50K miles. shift kit would help and a 6.0L tranny cooler definitly. for fuel milage and durability get an exhaust, intake, custom tuned chip if you want and in my experience, the intercoolers on the 7.3 SD are crap. my OBS runs cooler EGTs then my dads SD with the intercooler. get a 6.0 IC.

Get a good quality Valve Body for the trans and a good TC and you will be good to go. The factory tranny is not that bad with just a few minor adjustments.

Get a set of gauges (I recommend Isspro EV-2 for most people). Pyro (EGT), Tranny and Boost... If you want to spring for a fuel pressure gauge in a quad pod you will be set!

Then a good 4" turbo back exhaust and a Tymar intake.

Once you have that in hand its time to throw a TS style chip on her and get some good tunes, Power Hungry Performance, Swamps, Tyrant or likes are all good tuners.

I honestly missed the post, sorry about that.

LOL... Come on man, you have to know better then that. The Superdutys have almost TWICE the fuel of a OBS truck... AA injectors on a OBS are 90CC per 1000 shots and a Superduty is 140CC per 1000...

There is nothing wrong with the factory Intercooler on a 7.3, and NO reason to swap to a 6.0 IC.
