Cold motor issues
Hey Guys, new diesel owner here.
I've got a 2001 F350 that in the last 4 months has started having issues until it warms up. It always starts fine, but will loose power and trip a service engine soon light until the needle rises off of cold. Once it's warm, it runs great.
It's my girlfriend's truck, and she is very good on maintinance and has owned it since new. We've changed all the filters and fluids, and even the fuel filter a second time for good measure, but it still does it.
It's got about 250,000 miles on it, but inside and out looks like it has 200 miles, she is crazy good to that truck. Any help would be great!
I'm a gass guy, so.. it acts just like a broken or fouled spark plug on a gas motor.. No power, rough idle, and then the light.

Since you're more familiar with gas engines, it is worth mentioning that these trucks may have a code that a standard OBDII scanner will not recognize which will cause it to return "No Codes Found" or something similar.

But you are correct, The standard OBD readers from autozone and likes will not read our codes.

sorry, I quoted you, but was referring to the OP stating he was more familiar w. gassers. It's past my bedtime.
