Default fuel mileage

What mods can be done to increase fuel mileage, and what's the best mileage you've gotten from your 7.3? James

I've gotten as good as 20...

My average is 16-17...

The most important factor is driving style... Having everything in tip top shape is also important...

2x4 under the accelerator pedal and raw egg taped to the bottom of your right shoe.

You could also find an early 90's beater car for daily commuting......

If you make granny look like a speed demon you'll get the best numbers. Remember the weight of these trucks, it won't compare to a Ford Escort.

I appreciate all of the replies, but my question was, "What mods can be done to increase fuel mileage and what's the best mileage you have gotten from your 7.3?". No one has any real world experience with this? Aren't there computer chips, exhuast systems, air intake systems out there that can increase performance and mileage? I heard this site was "the bomb"! James

I get about 16 mpg normally and 13 or so towing a 22 ft enclosed trailer at 70 mph. Does anyone have any experience with before and after mods of things like chips, air intake, exhaust, changing gears to 3.73's from 4.10's...that sort of stuff.

What about converting to peanut oil or whatever it's called? Thanks and keep the replies coming. James

I drive a 2005 Honda Accord to work everyday. I am looking to cut costs for towing across the country. James

Tuning companies would be worth billions of dollars if they could find a way to guarantee better fuel economy.

It is what it is. Seriously.

ive done a superchip flash pack, boost power ups mpg a little. it has a clean burnin tune, not alot of smoke, best bank for the buck, also typical stuff, intake, exhaust, all helps. one other thing ive done is a high pressure oil line cross over, connects the to heads together for oil passages. im not sure if it helped out my mpg but it helped the idles. runs alittle smoother so im sure its not hurting. got the line from strictly diesel, got the tuner an exhaust from kt performance. great to deal with he's a sponsor on here. check out his site. great guy to deal with ktperformance.net
