ball joints

I did mine on f250. I did them while on the truck. I used a half inch drive elec impact for the tool used to remove the ball joints. Could not use a hand tool. Way to tight. I changed both sides using parts from xxxxxxxx. Lasted six months. Went to a different supplier,O'reillys and used MOOG parts. Moog makes OEM for the s.d. Two years no problems.
Because I had lifetime warranty, I had to change them two times. No more than six months on both changes from xxxxxxxx.

I took the brakes off and tied it up.took the brake sensor off. I did not romove the rotor or any steering parts. Go to to the parts house and rent the b/j removal tool. Like I said, I had to use an an impart wrench to remove the b-joints. You can not turn the b/j removal tool with a wrench. it can be a pain to do, but i did it three times on the truck. i wasn't going to pay 600.00 to someone to do it. took about 4 hours to do. use impact to put them back in.

Remove the brake caliper, the hub dust cap, the retaining nut inside, and pull the rotor off, remove the cotter pin in the tie rod, the tie rod nut, and use a seperator fork to get the tie rod off, remove the lower ball joint cotter pin, and LOOSEN not remove the lower balljoint nut. loosen the eccentric cam bolt so the upper ball joint is loose, a couple good hard smacks right next to the lower ball joint and the knuckle will fall down onto the lower ball joint nut that you didn't remove (get why you didn't remove it before?) now remove the lower nut and take the entire spindle off the truck. Remove the snap rings from the bottom of the joints. Using a ball joint kit you borrowed for free from the parts store remove the upper joint, then the lower joint, press in the new lower joint then the new upper joint, put it back together, get it aligned.
Trying to leave all the steering stuff in place and do it under the truck, that's insane borderline stupid, take it out and work on a bench, in a vise.
