Default New here with a few questions

Hello everyone I am new to the Powerstroke arena and i have a few questions for you guys. I just traded in my 2000 Dodge 2500 Cummins for a 99 f250 powerstroke, it has 150k miles on it and it is as stock as the day it came out of the factory.

obviously the first few things im going to do are exhaust, intake and gauges. as for gauges what are your thoughts, i was thinking about putting the boost, trans temp and pyro on the A pillar, but i also like the idea of the edge insight CTS with the option of the backup camera for the reason of having a couple little ones running around. (can never be to safe)

I also want to add a little power to it, nothing crazy just a little extra get up and go for when im towing the boat or equipment trailer. I was thinking the ts 6 position chip or just going with the edge evolution it i decide to go with the insight for the gauges. Pros ad cons for both of those? also what is the potential for tranny problems with either of those being it is still stock?

thanks for all advise it is much appreciated!!

has the trans been rebuilt? you usually see auto trannys start to have problems around 150,000 miles but hell ive seen them with 250,000 miles and no problems.
its all in how you take care of it.

ive got the edge insight cts for my gauges but u will also wanna do a regular boost gauge so that you can do a boost fooler and still see what your making. as for the edge i love it. its really nice to have the alerts set up and everything and the custom backgrounds are cool to

as for the tuning i would go with a custom ts. theres so much more you can get to fit your specific aplication. in my case i dont tow anything super heavy so i ditched the typical heavy tow tune in favor of a lope idle.

There is no reason to get gauges, chip and the edge. Take the edge out there and that will save you a grand. Get the gauges and a custom chip and you can use the other money to buy a new stereo or what not with a backup camera. For gauges I recomend isspro and for the chip there are a few options like gearhead, wildman, swamps, tyrant, beans, PHP, murff. I think if it was me I would go with tyrant.

ive got a slightly different opinion on the edge...ive got the insight and love the damn thing...it tells you everything u need to know and more...hell on mine i program in when my miles when i changed my oil last and how many miles i wanna go between services and it pops up and tells me (does that for all major fluids and rotating ur tires) so i love the thing (im in a lifted truck and havent corrected for my bigger tires so its my way of making sure i do stuff on time)

I guess if you need something that cost $1100 to tell you you need to change your oil, rotate you tires or anything like that then go ahead you probably need it. I can remember general maintenance that needs done. I have alot more I could spend the money on.

Yes it will but I still can't see the point if your wanting pillar gauges and a 6 pos chip.

to correct you the edge insight (gauge display) is $448.88 on edges website (probly cheaper elsewhere) and the probe is 120ish....
5 gauges for 570ish + all the added features.
boost gauge trans temp pyro and pillar 430ish...
difference of 140ish then factor in that my edge (on the analog display) is watching two more things. and has the ability to watch 5 more thing (8 total)
imo the edge insight is fantastic for the price and gives you a ton of features

*Disclaimer all prices are either pulled from some sight selling the product and should not be held as to what the product will really cost

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and yes the edge can pull DTCs but most of their records are in complete. for example if u read the dtcs find P1211 then click on it to see what it says it says something along the lines of no info found
