So I tried to start my truck today and all it did was crank and blow huge clouds of white smoke. After almost draining the batteries and then jumping the truck from my rockcrawler that was in the garage it started. I have the dummy wait to start light acting like normal. I think I have tested the gpr like you should maybe not. I have 258k on the truck. It has never been this bad. If I didnt plug it in it may chug a little then idle smooth. The past two days it has done this. It was 15 this morning.



Anything else I can check or am missing?

Did this all of a sudden happen? How does it start when plugged in for 3 hours?

 

check your glow plugs.

 

Well. Only yesterday and today. I had it plugged in all night.

 

Valve cover gaskets. These run the injector wires through them. They could be going bad and trying to start on 1/2 the cylinders and that is were the white smoke is coming from. Just a guess.
