4WD issues

Default 4WD issues

I get the 4WD lights on the dash, I can hear the solenoid engage in both high and low 4WD; when selecting low range, I noted that I was governed as far as speed was concerned. Thus, the TC appeared to be engaged. Also, when you are in either high or low range, when a turn is tight, you can tell if you are in 4WD; I do not think I was in 4WD. I noted that when selecting high range, the rear tires spun in the snow and mud, the front did not.

I looked at the vacuum lines, all intact. Now, what could be the issues that would be most prevalent problem? What are the concerns for converting over to manual hubs? Thanks for the assist

greg i had the same problem with my 2000 ford f250. the vacuum seals on the driver side hub had to be changed. if you haven't changed ball joints out at this point go ahead and do it while your changing your seals. not bad to do just time consuming.

Default Hub movement

I have noted the hubs are very hard to move from auto to manual; can they be cleaned and re-greased for a smoother operations or do they need to be replaced? Thanks

Greg yes they can be soak with any cleaner. i prefer motor cleaner. it take some elbow grease to get them loosen up but they will free up and prevent you from buying the seals. Im lazy and like the auto and also to cold right now.
