Default block heater help

can anyone tell me how to change the block heater in my 99 7.3 powerstroke, any advice would be apriciated.

See the orange/red plug coming out just above the oil filter... That is your block heater element...

Remove, and replace.

Red arrow is the block heater element...

Blue line is the block heater cord...

I installed a KATS circulation heater in both my 00 and 01 and loved em cause you would hear them kick in after you plugged in and stood there a few seconds plus they worked super.

where did you get the KATS heater? I need to add something to my 01

my block heater finally took a dump on me to. so my question is do u have to drain any fluids to get this done

The coolant will drain out of the hole. If your quick you might only loose a gallon. Are you sure its the element? they very rarely go out.

not 100% yet. i did a visual check and didnt see any marks on the wire. tomorrow im gunna double check it. other than visual checks what do u recommend. i know ive got power to through the extension cord (its the fancy one with the light up end).
