Default 2001 7.3

i recently found a 2001 powerstroke. it has 72,xxx original miles. it's a crew cab long bed manual trans and manual 4x4 shift. before i think about jumping on this one. i would like to know what might wear out soon. like the front end bearings, water pump, possibly clutch, transmission etc. ... thanks for the input.

I have same year and motor 143,000 and just ran into the #2 injector going bad my cousin owned it since 80,000 before me and never put a dime in it. He told me when buying a diesel to lookin the bed and see if you can find hole where the fifth wheel was attached if there is not holes there is not much to worry about. even if there is drill holes not to much to worry about still, but get some back ground on what type of maintanance the owner put into it as far as fluid change in the rear end and transmission.

ok. i'll check it out. i know my way around the OBS but i haven't been around the newer ones all that much. as far as injectors go. my neighbor has an early 99 with 280,xxx miles and hasen't had to touch the injectors. they are asking $19,500. it's just white. no power anything but i can live with it. it has a goose neck ball in it. but it looks barely used. there wasn't any wear marks on the ball at all. it has the rubber floor kit instead of carpet. and there isn't a scuff on it any where. i think this truck was barely used and babied when it was.

id be gettin on buying that if you can haha i have a fricken dodge with a rubber floor in it and thats the best part of the pickup it so easy to clean and also im assuming its a manual 4x4 and windows and locks? that could be better in ways because you wont have to worry about the electronics going out

My 99 7.3L is about to hit 235k. Glowplugs had to be replaced around 175k and I had the front end redone around 200k. I just redone the front end again because of hard running and some off road abuse. I'd really consider it. Low mileage, manual everything, and I love rubber floors. Super easy to clean. Be sure to check the frame for some rust, and the fenders and such for any signs.

to strokinf350, yes, it is the 6 speed manual, with manual 4wd shift, and manual hubs. it is an XL package so there isn't anything fancy in it at all. it doesn't even have a tape player in the dash. but some one did pout some aluminum wheels on it. what do you guys think of the 19,500 price tag?

I think it is a little steep for a 01. But considering the condition, try and get him talked down a little lower. We paid 49k for ours when it was about 2 months old.
