Sad bad glow plugs????

its been getting into the mid-low 40s here, after i let it set for maybe 3-5 hours and start it it idles really rough the tach will bounce from 300-1000, and barley moves, sometimes it just dies, then after that if i start it and shut down and start it back up itll run just fine, so what im wondering is if it sounds like my glow plugs arent heating up the way it should be,

Check the glow plug relay first, its more then likely dead.

Its possible, I would still check it, that way you can rule it out...

Lets keep in mind, diesels run like ******** until they are warm. The ONLY diesel I've EVER seen run good when freezing out is my TDI; and even THAT will stumble for 3-4 seconds when ice cold to run "smoothly". Then 10-15mins after that until actually up to operating temperature.

i changed the relay it still cranks hard and idles rough for about a min, i think i found the problem, my fuel bowl heater was unplugged and my front line of the hpop is leaking some so i think thats causing it ta work harder ta build the pressure for fuel and making it run like crap

if the fuel bowl heater was unplugged would it cause it to run rough??? does it heat the fuel when the key is on???

You dont need a fuel bowl heater and that would have nothing to do with a hard start...

Got AE?

AE?? what is that? could the problem just be the oil leak coming from the hpop line?
