Inter cooler tube, why do they pop off??

Default Inter cooler tube, why do they pop off??

I just did the EBPV mod on my 99 f350 and when I drive the truck down the road and give it some heavy gas one of the tubes pop off at the intercooler and the turbo gets REALLY hot? What the hell did I do wrong????? Can anyone give me some input? I've been doing this for a few days now, I'm about ready to blow it up rrrrrrrrrrr.

Because these trucks have big azzed turbos pushing lots of boost Air takes the path of least resistance. If the boots aren't on tightly or they are oily, the air is gonna wanna blast out there instead of into the motor.

I was thinking that and I put some adhesives on them and it still popped off. What about the turbo being hot??? almost smoking a little???? Is that cause I had to drive it home a few miles?? I'm thinking that I'm going but everything back the way it was and see what happens from there. I hope I didn't blow the turbo I just got it in Aug.

I had a problem with the tubes blowing off also found that I had put them on backwards the blue boots have a ridge in them and go on a certain way. (ridge side goes on the intercooler tubes and flat side goes on the "Y") once changed around it stop doing it. also 2000 f-250 don't know if the design is diff?

Ok thanks Jeff. I think I have them on right but I could be wrong. I'm still puzzeled about my turbo

Found a article on the internet about testing a ford f-350 turbo during heavy loads temps reached 1050 degrees and they seemed to think that it held up good , my turbo is stock and after driving it (and I don't hot rod at all) it gets pretty dam hot also.

Ok now I know what I did wrong. I kept the plug in to the pedastel plugged in. I didn't know that I should keep it unplugged. I did order new boots and clamps and I will see how it goes on Monday.

Redline per International is 1250... But you need a EGT gauge installed Pre-turbo to know that.

I have seen 1600* plus before without issue for short times.

1250* hold, 1500-1600* spike is fine

Fords genius PCV system also known as the crank case venting system is retarded. Same as the Duramaxes. Instead of venting the crank case to atmosphere like the cummins they vent it beck into the intake system. Over the years this will cause a lot of oil build up throughout the intake system including your intercooler pipes. Check into doing a crank case vent relocation. You can do it yourself or BD makes a nice little kit that solves the problem and vents into a catch can instead of the intake.

I have used this on several customers trucks with perfect results. No more oil in the intercooler pipes period.
