First off thank you for this site! Now the problem.I have a 2001 f250 with the 7.3 have only had one problem in the last 6yrs and it was the cam position sensor, now after 3yrs it acted like it was going out again so went and got a new one came home let the truck cool down so I could install the sensor did just that and it would not start! I took the sensor out took it back and got another one thinking it was a bad one (nope) still will not start. Ok it has to be the fuel pump changed fuel pump, nope not the problem. It will crank and crank put a little spray it starts but will not run with out it.Have checked all fuses Im stuck, Please help!

Could be an IPR issue, could be a ICP sensor...

Need to get someone to scan it, check the cranking ICP pressure and the duty cycle. Have them do a Buzz test on the injectors...

Where are you located? Maybe someone around you has Auto Engunuity?

I had a similar issue on a 02 7.3. My problem was when changing out the pump the pump was dry and couldn't suck from the tank. I pressurized the tank to prime the pump and it fired up. The other thing is fuel filter. There is a sensor that senses when the lid is off and won't allow the bowl to fill if the filter is open. Also listen to make sure the pump is turning on and off.

Yeah, if you could get it scanned it would help a lot. It about has to be in one of two systems: the low pressure fuel supply to the heads or in your HPOP oil supply to the heads.

When you crank it does it have oil pressure on the gauge? Does the tach show any RPM?

(On my boys, his CPS went out. He changed it and it ran fine for a while. Then it quit like yours. When he had it scanned it showed the CPS was still bad. When they unplugged it they found the connector was damaged. My boy didn't know it wasn't supposed to be like that. It was that why when he came along to change the CPS. He found out the '07 PowerStroke uses the same harness and bought one for about $17. Soldered that in and his hasn't missed a beat since!!

Let us know what you find! If you want I will ask what kind of scanner this guy had. We did find out the generic ones at Auto Zone and the like won't scan it. Apparently those left diesels off their cheaper, less than professional scanners.
