dead blow hammer is like a rubber mallet, but differant...LOL

You can seat the injector with a hit from your hand or something like that, but its much easier to thwack it with a dead blow hammer two or three times. You can hear when the injector is seated, the ping changes. If you did not fully seat the injector, more then likely thats where your white smoke is coming from. -

Is it ok to drive it the way it is. I don't have a garage and the weather hasn't been cooperating with me? Thanks -

If the injector is not seated, and you have alot of white smoke, its not ok to drive it. You will wash down the cylinder at best, or burn a hole clean thru the piston. Been there, done that.

here is the picture of the aftermath...

Do you know how many miles you put on before that happened? And what if any symptoms did the truck have to indicate a problem like that besides the white smoke? I only ask because I have been driving my truck up until this point. -

About 20 miles... I was up in the middle of no where and needed to get somewhere with cell service. Lots of white smoke... -

I've put on way more than 20 miles since installing that injector. It seems to blow the smoke when I start and if I rev the engine it will blow after I let off the pedal, not while I'm reving. On the off chance it just air in the line will that eventually work itself out? -

Its not air in the line... It could be coolant, has your coolant been going down at all?

What does the smoke smell like? Sometimes "white" smoke is really oil. You could have a turbo issue.

smell it and see if it smells like fuel. -

Will do. Supposed to be nice out tomorrow so I plan on messing with it. It does seem like it's lacking power. I had air box off for probably 4 days did I need to oil the turbo wheel some how before I started it. Haven't looked at coolant either just assumed it was injector cause that's what I just messed with. Frustrating. -

Gee thanks. If it keeps this up I might not.

O.K. looking through my book here before I started working on this thing and it said if you have burned oil on the turbo housing that the oil return for the turbo is probably blocked, would that cause the smoke? Just trying to figure it out hate to do un-necessary work. -

Another update. Pulled and reinstalled injector, might have went in an 1/8 inch more. Actuator on turbo is not working, put pressure on it and wastegate rod did not move. Also, noticed some oil around the clamp for the downpipe. Do I need a new turbo? Like I said before it sure seems to be lacking power if wastegate got stuck open I assume that would cause lack of power but why the smoke? -

Need to pull the turbo and take a look at it. I would bet it is leaking oil past the seals and your white smoke is really oil smoke. -

truck has Garrett 1.00 turbo in it(don't know if that was stock I bought the truck used). Would I be better off to rebuild or replace? I need actuator for sure not working. -

I am assuming you are looking at the compressor housing, for the 1.00 number, that would be the AR of the compressor side. If you pull the turbo and look at the exhaust side it should be a .84 AR.

Yes they came stock with a Garrett turbo. I dont know exactly what you did to the waste gate rod, did you remove the red line and blow air into the wastegate rod? If so it should open with about 30psi or so of air. Your not looking at the rod on the bottom of the turbo but the one at the top, in back. -

Yes I took off red hose put 20 psi on it book said I only needed five and the rod on the bottom should move(damn book). We did look at both rods while pressure was on just in case we were reading it wrong and neither moved. Also, when we took the top rod(from the diaphram) on the actuator off the post it was hooked to that post moved all over like it wasn't hooked to anything is that normal? Garrett GTP38R is best for this truck correct? Intake, exhaust and soon to be chip(replacing Edge Evo). -
