Default 2001 7.3 long cracking

2001 excursion 7.3 with 133k miles, i recently installed a ts 6pos a while back and never had a problem.the truck is not daily driven and when i go to start it it will crank longer than it ever has i just charged the batteries and starts the same. all most seemed as it started better without the chip on. I know to fire the engine it has to build oil pressure could it just need a new oil change and new filter
