Default Engine Rebuild Info

Hey guys. So, if youve read my last post I have some issues. Im getting ready to take the engine out of the truck and get this project started. I was wanting some information on an engine rebuild since its going to be out of the truck. And, I know its going to be hard not to throw in some upgrades while its out. So, if you guys want to throw some information my way about upgrades to do while the engine is out I wouldnt be mad at ya.

As of right now the piston head has a gouge in it from a clogged #1 injector. When we get into it and find out whether or not it has gotten into the cylinder wall will be my turning point. Has anyone heard of the Black Mamba engine? I cant find too much information on it which is sketchy. But if this project goes from being 2k to 6k then Ill definately want some replies on what all to throw in on the truck while Im there.

Thanks fellas

Rebuilding as of now. Im having my buddy help me with everything and he's a diesel mechanic. If he decides it would be better to buy a rebuilt one then thats the route I'll go. Just looking for other advice or information from people since we're getting ready to start it. Thanks

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Upgrades Im thinking about doing to get to ~350 hp

Stage 1 Injectors
TS performance Chip (Custom Tuned by Wildman)
Intake
Boost Fooler
HX kit
RR kit with Fuel Bowl Delete and post filter
and Possibly a torque converter
Comments/Concerns?

If I was doing a rebuild....comp 910 springs, ARP head studs, balance the rotating assy, assuming its already forged rods,If not add them.. Then start saving for a trans..

get your block honed and figure out what size pistons you need, then buy a factory rebuild kit. studs and springs would be a nice upgrade for that HP level

its an early 99 so yea I have the forged rods. Ill definitely consider the studs and springs. what does balancing the rotating assy do? and is it something I can take on or something that needs to be done in a shop

Also I heard from multiple people that the tranny would be fine as long as I dont go above 375. But, I know that hp is addictive so Im sure that would be something I add later down the line. Is this true or is it something I need for under 400 hp

balancing will make it run smoother, its a nice thing to do but not necessary.

i would do something with the trans, just so you wont have to worry about it later. my choice would be a BTS or john woods. but if your looking for cheaper sun coast makes nice rebuild parts.

if I go with a tranny it will be a BTS. But, I just dont have the money for that kind of project right now. Should I hold off on the other upgrades or go ahead with them

Depending on how good oh shape your tranny is in now it SHOULD hold it for the time being depending on how you drive it
