Default Water Injection Issues

I have a E99 F-350 dually with a automatic transmission. Mods are cold air intake, 4 inch exhaust, Stage one full force injectors and a PHP chip. I installed a CoolingMist water meth injection kit for diesels. I'm having a problem with the boost. The coolingmist boost gauge shows none to little boost while traveling at 60 mph. I have gone throught the whole system pressurizing everything from the air intake to the intake manifold and have found little to none leaks. With all leaks fixed the pressure didn't rise. I pressurized to 16" pounds but the coolingmist gauge only read 12.9" to 13" pounds. I'm not sure if it is the coolingmist gauge or my way or troubleshooting. One last thing I have changed the up-pipes and exhaust donuts. Any ideas on what to do next?

Is the truck running bad or something? usually at cruising spds you wont be building hardly any boost.

no it runs good and my EV2 boost gauge shows me pulling about 4-5 pounds of boost at 60mph.

Are both the gauges sourced from the same boost location?

My '91 Dodge sees about 2-3psi higher on the turbo side of the I/C.

The Coolingmist controller on my '07 Dodge sees 1 pound less than the Autometer gauge sourced from the same location, I assume simply due to a slight difference in factory calibration.

Yes both gauges pull boost from the same point but my EV2 read 3 pounds higher than the coolingmist and at highway speeds I'm not getting the power or lower EGT's I was looking for. In fact at 60 mph the coolingmist doesn't hardly come on at all. And with that I might as well not even have it. Too much money spend to not get the full benefits of it.

Youre wanting it to come on at cruising speeds? idk bout the cooling mist but usually water comes on at a predetermined boost and or egt level. Its more designed to limit max egt more than anything else. You would need a resevior as big as your fuel tank if you want it to run all the time.

One good thing about the coolmist kit I bought is that you set the low boost level you want the kit to come on and the max you want both injectors to come on. Its for mpg and lower EGT's. And yes I have a 35 gallon tank and after 1000 miles I used about 20 gallons of water. I tow with this truck and don't want to stop for water every couple of miles.

Mine doesn't come on much either, because it is set to start at 18 psi. I believe it's only really good for occasional use when needed under heavy load. Nice little power boost too when mixed with meth and the right nozzlage for your fueling.

My smaller nozzle, which is a 2 is set to come on at 1 psi and the larger one, a 10 is set to come on at 20psi. The theory I believe is for the small nozzle to boost power and help inprove fuel mileage by helping to burn all the fuel more efficiently thus increasing pwr and mpg. The large one is for cooling the EGT's at wot. When I test the system and bled the lines the small nozzle increased in flow all the way up to the point the bigger nozzle kicked in. So to me for the mpg to work correctly the system needs to come on low and increase as needed. But if my gauge is 3 psi off then I'm not getting the benefits of the mpg at cruzin speed. I sent the gauge back to have David at coolingmist check it. I can live with it being off a .5 to 1 psi off but not 3 psi. And if that the case then I might as well return it for something to just cool my EGT's when needed and get some of my money back. But I really want it to work as advertized.

What you are discovering by trial and error is another example of exaggerated marketing claims for aftermarket equipment. A #2 all by by itself will do little if anything for a 300+hp diesel under any circumstances.

It's like trying to put out a forest fire with a hand-held fire extinguisher.
