2002 7.3 using oil, injectors? HELP!!
So I am sure this has been asked a lot but I can not seem to find an answer to what is going on with my truck. I will say sorry now as this is gonna be a long one
Here is what i have 2002 Ford F250 7.3 Crew, Auto with 269K. Truck was maintain in aspect of oil changes and anything that needed to be done was. Has new HPOP and lines, has newer turbo (approx 2 years).
Kinda hard to start when cold, from what it sounds like I only have a couple glow plugs working, going to get that taken care of soon. I replaced the glow plug relay which really helped with starting but still a bit slow on the first start to me. First start this morning about 40 degrees (not plugged in) had to turn over for about 3 secs then fired up. Smokes a fair amount with cold start, whitish blue smoke for about 2 or 3 mins then clears up but still a bit of a smoke to it until it is driven for a few. Runs good, no missing or lack or power. While driving and if I am getting on it or towing the boat I can see a small amount white/blue ish smoke.
I took oil cap off and set it on the fill tube..does puff it up just a bit but does not blow it off. more like it lifts the edge just a little bit. Put my hand over it and did not really feel anything.
I do have a couple drips of oil in the driveway but nothing major.
AND drum roll for actual questions.
I noticed I used about 3 qts of oil in about 1000 miles. Am I right thinking that the oil is probably blowing by injectors? Or is there maybe something else? I am getting ready to take the truck in to have the glow plugs and new injector O rings put in but want to make sure I am not wasting money on that if it is something else. Basically what all should I check?? Where could that much oil be going?
Again sorry for the SUPER long post. I am pretty new to diesel and especially the 7.3 so any help is great
Been trolling around for a couple months now and have a learned alot from you guys.
Thanks for any help
Brian
