Default Looking to sell.

I'm looking to sell my 7.3 not before too long. And i'm not sure what to ask. Its got 260k on it, a new built tranny, nothing really done to it. Its a 4 door short bed Lariat. So it's leather, with power seats and windows. Body has no rust. And Kelly Blue Book said to ask 11k. But, i know its not worth that. And it has a brand new set of hankook dynapro MT's. What should i ask?!

Ask 11, you can get close to that if its in good condition.

I'm not a big fan of the 7.3, honestly. I'm 15, not even 16 yet, and this is my second vehichle already. Haha. I don't like how slow they are, i'm used to my old dodge. It was a 3/4 ton with a 360. It would pick em up and put em down. This 7.3 is a dog. And my dads duramax is fast as hell! and so was his cummins! And when i was looking for a vehicle the first time, i had my heart set on a cummins. I'm going to try and get one. And the only problem is, the little reader above the rear view mirror is broke :/ and the driver seat is tore. But there are no stains or anything. But you really think 11? I was thinking if i asked 10 i'd have to sit on it awhile..

If it makes any difference, I'm 17, I'm on my 7th vehicle, first an audi, then a gas truck, and this is my 5th 7.3. Continuing on, I see where you are coming from, duramaxes are pretty fast, but not as long lasting and more expensive and more complex. The cummins are good, but unless you are getting a 2003 or newer (3rd generation). Just as slow as a 7.3 without modifications. Either way, you have to build a truck in order to have it go fast and be able to last. And I guess depending on who you are you can judge what you want to start with, but I believe that the 7.3 is the simplest, cheapest, and most reliable engine to start with.

but, if your bent on selling it, I still think 11 is fair, even with the broken overhead council. That will at least give you some wiggle room to bargain with.

Very true, and I'm not saying i won't buy another 7.3. I just would prefer a 7.3 with less miles. Being 16, i know i'm probably going to be kind of hard on it. I'm probably gonna wanna break the tires, and roll some coal to show off. I can't say i won't because i know i will. But with 260k, i'm not willing to take the risk of really damaging my motor. I'm going to look into a cummins, but if if i can't find one to my liking, I'll probably end up with another 7.3. I wish the 6.0s weren't so shitty though, or i'd buy one and step up in the years. I would try to buy a 6.4 but I can't afford one.

6.0's aren't "shitty". Just take some lovein. 7.3s are strong..200k is just break in for them. Their not gasers...miles are just that..numbers that role over. I mean you're going to have some issues that happen on all mechanical things. Cummins..if they haven't had injectors and an injector pump..you'll be lookin at $2500 when the pump goes down. The truck you have just need some love. If you got it for a lower price then that should be what it is. Got it for a cheap truck has some miles on her. Just slowly go along and put some $$ in her. They aren't bad rigs. I know some boys that have 600k on their 7.3s and haven't really done anything besides maybe swop some parts here and there. But thats expected. I dont understand why you're already looking for something different but thats your choice. Sounds like you just need to get some love on here and slowly build it up..diesels aren't cheap to own. Thats part of it..maybe instead of swopping trucks you need to get a gaser instead of a diesel if your scared of break downs. I know money doesn't grow on trees..but no matter the truck you get..there will be problems some where down the line.

I'm sticking with the diesels, i've decided that. And i'm worried that this truck needs more love than i know to give it. I'm good with motors, but i couldn't take one apart and put it back together, or do a swap. My dad went to diesel school, but that was back in 84.. So he never really got to workin on the newer rigs. And i got it for 5500$. But i've got 8k in her right now, it needed tires, a starter, ball joints, and a winshield. The guy beat up the bed, so i bought a new one, and i need to get it painted. So i'll have about 9k in it before too long. So i thought of selling it, and taking that money and perhaps buying another 7.3 with lower miles. And one that is good on cosmetics.

Okay, as of now, you are still money ahead. $5500 was a really good deal. You are not gonna find a truck in better condition than yours with less miles for under $10k, you just wont. Unless you buy like a first or early second gen cummins. Which, well thats all mechanical injection so more down your dad's alley, but also older, likely more body and interior damage, and much more rare than the SuperDuty. Parts will also likely cost more and wont last as long.
