Default 6637 mod and ccv mod

I've been researching these two mods and still don't understand the idea behind the ccv mod or how well the 6637 mod works. Just wondering if someone could shed some more light on the two?

Sure! the CCV mod, CrankCase Vent mod is a modification to your truck that removes issues you may run into while working on your truck. Inside the crankcase, the air is laden with small oil droplets and that air needs to be vented somehow. For emissions reasons, ford decided to pipe those gasses right into the intake of the truck, therefor running them through the engine and burning off the oil. It was designed this way and doesnt hurt performance or anything. However, the intercooler pipes and boots will eventually accumulate a film of oil that will settle in the bottom of your pipes/intercooler. This can be highly annoying when removing pipes cause they are all covered in oil.

The 6637 mod is called this because the filter number is 6637 (from Napa and Donaldson anyways, the wix # is 46637, but part stores can cross reference and get you the right filter) But anyways, this is a very large cylindrical filter designed for larger diesel machinery. The filter is also very cheap ($50), flows extremely well, is easy to change, and is disposable. It is just another option for an intake so you dont have to spend $300+ on an aftermarket intake. The only other thing you need besides the filter is a 3" long section of 4" diameter tube/pipe to bridge between the stock intake pipe and the filter neck. You also have to remove the stock intake box (a couple clips and screws) or modify it in order for the filter to fit in place.

Both are great mods and I have both of them done on my truck. Hope I could clear some things up for ya!

Have you noticed any change or improvement with the 6637 and what did you do with the air sensor and the filter change indicator on the air box? I'm sure the ccv mod has no performance value.

Yes, air flow is greatly improved with the 6637. When your turbo starts demanding more air, your 6637 will be able to deliver it whereas the stock box and filter would be a restriction. The two sensors i bundled up and zip-tied to the inner fender. The air sensor still reads the same air, and the filter-minder isnt needed for anything any more.

You would be correct, no performance value, simply a convenience mod.
