Default 96 Ford F250 3rd gear lag???

I have a basically bone stock 96 ford f250 7.3L PSD. The only mods that are done is the Tymar intake mod, and a 3in down pipe to 4in pipe comming out before the back tire. Ever since i have bought the truck it seems like once it shifts into 3rd gear it becomes a turtle till i get the rpm's back up. Is there anything i should look for to help fix this?

Get a tune on it. You can tune shift points, etc... I am assuming you have an automatic. If not, then Get your rpms higher before you shift if you have a manual.

Also, what gears do you have in the rear? What size tires? That could be an issue as well. ie, 3.55 gears with 35" tires.

If you have a 2wd, my guess is that you probably have 3.55 gears which will dog on higher gears with 33" tires. My buddy has a 4 door 250 with the7.3, 3.55 gears, and 33" tires. It dogged a bit, specially when shifting into 3rd, 4th, and overdrive (when he had the E4OD). He swapped in a 5 spd and added a 100hp tune with a 3" down-pipe which fixed the lack of power issue. LOL If you have a 4x4, my guess is that you have 4.10 gears which is what I have. I have an unknown tune (its how i bought it), stock down-pipe, 5 spd, and am running 32" muds. My truck is a beast. but the gears in the back end help tremendously. Try the tune, and if that doesn't help, I would go with a 5sp, 31" tires, or re-gear. If you have a dually, then you may have the 4.55 gears, in which case, you may just need the tune (or your trans is weak).

It's 4x4 so I'll try out the tune an hopefulł it will help cause the tranny was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago by the original owner
