Default Scan tool

Not sure if this is the right spot for all of it but all the powerstrokes from 94.5 up are OBDII right? and has anyone ever used the craftsman scan tool? if so how was it?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

or the snap-on obdII and one diagnostic system?

I havent used a craftsman scan tool, but Iam sure it will be ok. All you need is something that reads codes. I have a off brand it was around 100.00. It does a good job for me.

man that's pricey though for what it seems to be. basically what im looking for is a reliable tool to help me find out whats wrong with the powerstroke instead of guessing. and the other 4 vehicles in the driveway

I have heard that obd2 scanners won't work before the 96 even though they have the obd2 plugs but my old diesel instructor knows of a trick to get around it but he hasn't shown me yet but it can be done.

Two things have to happen for us to work on this vehicle: 1) The vehicle must have the J1962 (OBDII) connector under the dash 2) the vehicle must have had the PCM re-flashed to newer programming If the above are true then you can purchase the SP03 Total Ford Bundle($399) and it will work.

this is the email i got from technical support at autoenginuity

So you want what exactly? Something that tells you a code and you guess from there? Check out RiffRaff on AE prices...

94-early95 vehicles will have the plugs, but they need to have been reflashed in order to hook up to a scanner...
