Question lots of noise

I installed a new down pipe on my 1995 7.3 psd and I am getting a lot of noise now sounds like pipe is hitting somewhere but upon inspection it has clearance all around. cannot figure where noise is coming from. anyone have an idea? could it be the material the pipe in made from? maybe it is too thin metal?

I would think its either vibrating on the cab or uppipe or you are just hearing the exhaust more because you have an aftermarket downpipe. Does it have a vibrating sound to it? If so, its your downpipe touching the firewall or somewhere else.

I doubt its the thickness of the DP.

Does it make the noise all the time or just when coming to stops, taking off... etc?

it is worse when taking off real bad when turning also maybe a clearance problem due to flexing

How much clearance do you have on the firewall?

i would almost bet that its hiting the firewall. just because it has clearence at a stop doenst mean it will have clearance when the engine is ratteling around.

Is it an auto? If so, make sure your trans. dipstick tube isn't rattling on your downpipe.

im with joebob, you have flex in the exhaust so it can move, it might be hitting the fire wall. taking off, turning, stoping, all the ones you listed where its the worse is when the exhaust will move
