Default intake plenum

I recently completed my i.c. install and decided to do a leak test.
I discovered a major leak around the driver's side intake plenum.
Is this a common problem?
I found the ford and international part numbers and they both have the following description: (96-03 newer type with screen, 10 bolt and 3").
Does installing the newer type involve drilling additional holes in the engine?
Do the additional bolts alleviate the problem?
Anyone know how much these cost?
Any other solutions/thoughts?

Thanks.

You dont need the holes, I am running OBS heads and just welded up the two extra holes in my superduty plentums.

So, I should just remove the plenum, put on new silicone, and bolt it back on? I thought maybe the seal was breaking because of more boost, but if they are holding for your set up, it should hold for mine. Thank you.

Yup, remove them, clean everything really good and use a good RVT and let it tack up. Then bolt it up and you should be good. Make sure there is NO oil or oil residue...

I found a special sealant for powerstroke intake plenums. there is a Ford part number and a motorcraft part number.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Ford part number F7AZ-191554-EA
