Default need some info quick

I currently have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 Ext cab z71 4x4 top of the line leather heated seats power auto tranny. it has 170000 miles on it. 3" lift 285 tires. looks nice..

I have found a 1996 ford 1 ton crew cab with the 7.3 the interior needs a little tlc but is not bad. the body is flawless.. it has the 7.3 diesel in it and has 270000 miles on it. 4" lift 35" tires 6 gun programmer and some other engine mods.

1.) should I trade? KBB says equal value NADA says mine is worth more. but I like the ford way more.

2.) will the auto tranny in the truck be good? the guys says the previous owner replaced it or rebuilt it but I have no hard info on what is in it or when it was done or if it even was done.

I've been around trucks my whole life and I can look at the stuff like leaks spots of typical rust. but how can I do a compression test or see if the tranny is slipping easily?

3.)how can I test the tranny for potential signs of ware or if it has been replaced?
