DPF delete or a modified one that looks like its there but gutted.

I know it all depends on who pulls you over but if they wanted to get "nasty," what is the consequences nation-wide and in a state that has strict emissions such as Arizona.

I'd really like to do the DPF delete but if it's going to run me $5,000.00 in fines, I think I'll pass.

Thanks guys! -

Unfortunately, the truck is used for business use and I get pulled over by the state trooper once in a great while for general inspection. -

Ive never heard of anyone getting a ticket for removing the dpf. Almost every diesel i've had the cat is usually gone in the 1st week & ive never gotten in trouble except for 1 noise violation ticket a friend of mine got back in 03 driving my 01 cummins, but he opened it up downtown Boise in front of a cop. The DPF is a FEDERALLY MANDATED emissions control device. This makes it a FEDERAL OFFENSE to remove it.

If you were going to take it off, I'd put a gutted version on, if you're at risk of getting caught. I would't worry much about sooty pipes - i see stock trucks with sooty pipes all the time.

And what's the roadside clown going to do, take the filter off and check?

However - how is your emissions program measured there? Do they do an opacity test, or is it visible smoke, or what?

Because if they force you to do an inspection, and it fails... -

Simple, you didn't remove it, it was damaged and you could not afford to repair it properly but will as soon as you get the money. -

Depends on your location.

And they don't care if you can't afford to fix it - that ain't their problem.

Not saying I'm for or against, just saying what I know. -

Yeah I know, but at worst all they can do is give you a fix it ticket. Never admit willfully removing the thing and they have to prove you did which is next to impossible. -
