Default ford super duty f 250 2008

hey all new member here I was just at the dealership and drove a very nice 08 f250 with the 6.4, I had them pull the service records and it has had ;
customer sts complete recall 8c04 recall 2008
complete 8t01 cooling system t install 2008
complete 08b07 reflash PCM ic august 2011

Its a beautiful truck but i'm hesitant as i've read so many bad things. it has 66k miles two owners. I have asked them to see if I could buy a bumper to bumper warranty or at least see warranty options. they are selling it for 27k, which seems a reasonable price.

I've done quite a bit of research and there does seem a ton of problems on the 08. I do plan on keeping it stock if I buy it and 5k oil changes at the dealer to help spot problems early.

Does anybody have any advice for me I could do with some as ive zero knowledge on diesel engines except Google.

I'd say take it!!!! I bought my 08 with 90,000 on it 2 owners with the first being a fleet customer. Haven't had an issue yet! Been about 6 months n 10,000 miles. Does the truck have the DPF deleted or the EGR coolers off? Mine came with the DPF and I did the EGR and EGR cooler delete my self

That I don't know, also would I want to remove something if I plan on getting a ford bumper to bumper warranty its pricy just over 4000 dollars but compared to what something's cost it be cheaper in the long run the warranty it 60 miles or 48 months.

You read so many problems with these trucks I wonder what the ratio is regarding dfor every bad one how many good ones are running?

Yeah I know the DPF and the EGR coolers are know to be the thing to kill the engine my main concern was the EGR coolers as I knew one was clogged when I bought it (slight white smoke on hard acceleration) but is do some research in the warrantee and see if it's worth it I read a lot of horror stories of ford half-A$$ing repairs or straight refusing to cover some incidents

ya that is my concern with some of the dealers. Be no point getting rid of the erg cooler is I warranty it has id be voiding it. Im still on the fence with it, ive asked the dealer to meet me half way on the warranty cost and ill see what they say 27k seems very good price tho.

Well I got mine with 90,000 miles one it for $15,000 so of u go with out a warrantee there's better deals away fr the dealers but u gotta take a risk on condition. I'm a former ASE certified mechanic so I was comfortable taking the risk. Diesels are new to me as well

this one is an xlt 4x4 crew cab electric extendable mirrors power seats n windows snug top canopy, very nice truck apart from the mirror no auto dimming or garage door opener ...its very well taken care of upholstery is excellent condition also love when the seats come up you have the ability to have a flat deck. 6.5 bed which makes parking easier. really like it just hesitant waiting on the dealer to say yay or nay on the warranty.
