Default Need advice before buying

Hi, I new to this forum. I am looking at buying a 2008 Ford F250 FX4 with 56000 miles on it. I was wondering if there are any major issues with this year/model truck. This will be my first diesel and wanting to gather all info I can. Thanks in advance, Russ

I had done a lot of research before buying my 08, things i found to consider with the 08:
1. What job is it, you can do a search on here to see what the differences in JOBs and how to tell which job you have. so once you see what job you have see which updates are done by having any ford dealership pull the oasis report.
2. DPF filter, has it been removed yet? if so its defiantly some thing you will want to remove.
3. Egr coolers are known to clog and damage the motor, so either replacement upgraded erg cooler or my route erg cooler and erg valve delete.

Thanks for the advice. What is a job? Maybe a dumb question but not sure what it is. And I'm going Friday to test drive it.

NP, Jobs simply refer to which run of the 2008 youre truck is:
early production 2008 were job 1, later job 2 last were job 3. With each run improvments were made and if its an earlier job you will wanyt some of the updates.

Job 1

Build dates 01-07 thru 06-07

First builds of the 08's. Lower valence in front on front bumper much shorter than later job builds.
Radiators would leak, most should be replaced under warranty by now. Also there was a recal for a venturi T to be added to keep the radiators from splitting.
TCM, early on it was thought that the transmission control module was a hold up for transmission life, but has sense been fixed by more refined trans tuning
Transmissions,Job 1 was the only model to have an external filter as well as the internal in the pan. some hard part differences like overdrive planetarys but i dont know all the details so hopefully someone can step in a clarify the changes.

Injectors had a recall for hanging open and filling the crankcase full of fuel, VIN specific recall

Job 2

Build dates 07-07 thru 12-07

Second build batches of the 08 model year

Got a bigger valence on the front bumper, said to improve mileage by 1-2 mpg.

TCM part numbers changed. Other small changes were made hopefully more can chime in with more info

Job 3 pretty much anything built in 08 was a job 3

not familiar with all the changes

2009

2009 Job 2 added SYNC.

Last year of 3.73 gears as an option

2010s

3.55s were the highest gear ration selection

Ok, that's great help! Thanks so much. I was clueless for the most part. So that helps me out a ton. Now I have things I can look at and research.
