Default TC Lock up

can someone explain TC lock up and what is right or wrong.

Im running a 250el tune

What's a 250el?

TC lock up is just when the converter locks fully (think like a clutch pack) and your engine RPM is 1:1 with your trans input. So there is no slip at this point. It usually only happens once you're up to highway speeds and in your last gear for cruising. There are tunes available that can lock it up earlier and through tuning we can change at what speed it locks up. I know some of the single turbo guys have had to lock it up later (higher MPH) to stay on top of the turbo.

250el (spartan tune im running right now). Just seems to hit Overdrive real soon after it changes to fifth. Dont like the sudden shift. Thanks

250 and up is a race tune.. its going to shift into final drive as fast as it can. they have a 250 tow also if i remeber right..

It would actually be 6th gear, and what you're feeling is the converter locking up, you're likely already in "overdrive" aka... 6th gear on a 5R110. (What you would feel as a shift into 5th gear is really 6th, as it skips a gear on the way up all the time).

Change the tune to 250 late lock, thats what i am running in mine.
