Default 4WD problems

Earlier today I was out at my land and it was muddy I put my truck in 4wd using the electronic switch and it would not kick in I had to lock the hubs in and then it worked my switch was working last week. Any ideas on what it could be

Read the Sticky about 4x4 hubs not working.

Yep, right at the top of the page. Very easy to diagnose. Usually cheap to repair too. It's a vacuum issue typically. Still tracing mine down right now as well.
