Default BIG OIL LEAK

Just picked my daughter up from school and as I was parking my trucvk just started leaking tons of oil? There was a small trail of oil for about 50 feet. Then when I parked it puddled up to which looks like about 2 or 3 quarts of oil. It leaked off the right hand back side. Getting on top of the engine I could see there was alot of oil pooled up where the oil filter is. yet no leaks on the filter houseing. Taking a chance I started it up ( turned over just fine) and could see the pool of oil grow. I cant pin point the area yet. But looks like the top of the oil cooler maybe or what looks like the oil pressure ? or temp sending unit?
any ideas what could make that much oil pour out so fast? Ill get some pics in abit. Waiting for wife to get home to watch the kids.

Sucks because my warranty expired in Dec and didnt bother to renew an extended warranty.

Cant upload my pictures as I cant find my usb cord for my phone.
I took off the tubes to turbo to get a look at the leak area. Im not sure what it is but its either the oil pressure or temp sending unit thats right next to the oil filter housing. Oil was coming out of that. Is it common for them to go out or should I be worried about more to come? Could me oil pressure have dropped enough to harm the injectors? Truck was never more then 1k rpms from when ti started leaking to when I shut it off.

The sensor toward the back is the presure sensor and the one more to the left and front is the oil temperature sensor, they have orings on them too. As far as injectors they will be fine, 2 different oil systems, the good thing is the truck cannot run without oil. This to my knowledge is not common, go to your Ford dealer and pop the new part in and you should be OK. the oil is at 75psi so the alot can come out of a tiny hole. if it is definately coming out of one of those sensors just rplace it and top off you oil.

What about turbo feed and drain? I'm not sure how much oil goes thru them?

Thanks Bobfbigman.

I looked up the part and its $31 and change. It def was running out of the top of that sensor. Only place I could find oil coming out. It pretty much just pooled up till it ran off the backside of the engine.
Scared the crap outta me seeing tht much oil at first. It reminded me of blowing up my gaser in my old truck years ago. So that shock of seeing all that oil had me sh--ing myself.

You think thats bad?? I had a bypass filter come loose and lost 3 gallons of oil in about 200 yards as I was pulling out of a parking lot and onto the road, truck shutoff because no oil for the HPOP and I coasted to a side street, had my friend who is an Amsoil dealer bring me some oil, it was 10pm, and fired it back up and went back to that parking lot to see the carnage. It was so bad I had to call the fire department so they could put about 10 bags of oildry down on the parking lot and road so no one got hurt by slipping on it, it would have sucked if someone on a motorcycle hit it.

Is this on a smartphone? Just email the picture to yourself and post it here? Or text it to me and I'll post it. PM on the way.

WOW, that would be the presure sensor, pull it out and take it with you when you pick up the new part to make sure all is right. This reminds me that there was another guy on here that had oil ontop of his motor on drivers side and couldn't figure out where it was coming from, I hope he checks this thread out and checks his sensor too.

My wife and I smelt oil a few days ago but thought it was the Dodge in front of me. uess it started small and today just blew it all out. So if that is the pressure sending unit and yet truck ran fine and started fine when I tried to find the leak. Would it have caused any harmful drop in pressure to do any damage to injectors?

And thanks Mdub for posting the pic for me.

I know for sure that it was this sensor. It looked like one of those Chocolate fountains with all the oil coming out the top of it.

No, that leak was in the low oil presure circuit, the injectors run off a seperat high presure oil pump and the injectors won't be hurt even if the high presure oil system runs out of oil because the oil is what makes the injectors work so basically they can't get hurt if they arent working if that makes sense, you only lost a couple quarts in asystem that holds 4 gallons.
