Weird noise after letting off gas

Default Weird noise after letting off gas

Just got out of class and when I was leaving the school I accelerated up a and came up on a red light so I let off and it made a weird noise from the engine bay on the driver side it made 3 or 4 pops sounding like it was trying to suck in either air or a liquid and couldnt get any

Turbo fart....common for the 6.0L. No issue just do not do it all the time on purpose.

So just dont floor it and then just let off sudddenly? sorry its my first diesel and I dont know too much yet

very common, it is just the Variable Geometry Turbo's way of acting like a waste gate, just a turbo fart..

Yes, do not do that intentionally. Even rolling hard on the throttle and suddenly coming off the pedal can cause it. Just remember it is "normal" for it to happen, just don't make it a "normal" occurrence when you are driving.

Okay thanks guys! If I got a waste gate would it keep new from doing that even accidentally? And does anyone know where too get one for a stock 6.0?

you can't put a wastegate on it, no need for it, it really doesn't hurt anything, but it makes the vanes in the turbo react quickly, when you think about it might actually help keep them clean.
