i need help rear brak roater glowing red

Default i need help rear brak roater glowing red

Today my driver side rear break roator was almost glowing red all other breaks were cool to the touch so i pulled off the wheel to take a look and the roter and pads look good. What is going on?

I dont know the little caliper slide bolts are in good shape and sliding good that is what i was thinking it might be but as far as the caliper itself stuck how could i tell.

take it off and use a c clamp to compress it. Watch your brake fluid level. After you compress it have someone hit the brakes. It should come back out. It might just need broke loose so do it a few times. If it doesn't want to move its time for a new one. Try bleeding your brakes also.... you never know!


But thats really the only thing that is going to cause your rotor to turn red. The caliper is sticking and your riding down the road with your brake pads constantly rubbing.

You say " the little caliper slide bolts are in good shape and sliding good " are you checking the bolts in the guides? If so check the guides in the caliper that the bolts go through ( the bolts don't move the guids in the calipers are supposed to move. Have had to buy a guid kit from Napa for mine as the dust boots dry rotted and alowed water and dirt to get in there and sieze up the guid to caliper. But my pads were worn un-even. You could also pump your brake pedal a few times then open your bleeder scew and if brake fluid rush's out you may have a bad brake hose. (not letting the hydrolic pressure to be reliaved from the caliper) If all of the above seems ok. Remove the caliper from the bracket and open your bleeder screw while trying to compress your piaton/s should compress smooth. (be sure you are applying even pressure to the whole piston/s) as not to cuase the piston/s to **** unevenly in the caliper bore. check you caliper bracket while you have the caliper off to see that the area the brake pads ride on is not to worn. if all looks good lube the guids with brake lube and work them in and out with your fingers and lube the brake pads where they come into contact with the bracket.
